About / Contact

Hi, I’m a freelance cartoonist and illustrator living in Perth, Western Australia.

I focus mainly on Australian editorial/political cartoons, with the occasional sidestep into quirky panel cartoons and a twist of caricature work. I have also done some serious illustration.

Since 1996, I’ve been published in various newspapers, magazines, industrial manuals and the internet.

Please have a look around my portfolio and see what I get up to when my mind is loose on the drawing board.  Click on portfolio sections above =

CARICATURE – EDITORIAL/POLITICAL – HUMOROUS ILLUSTRATION – ILLUSTRATION

I also create the occasional short quirky post, which is sometimes humorous and often with an intense focus on nothing in particular.

Additionally, I pass time as a husband, father, baby-sitter, coffee drinker, beer taster, holiday fisherman, tourist, domestic maintenance engineer, and volunteer food reviewer specializing in crabs, crayfish and prawns.

Cheers

Mick

  1. I opened up Photoshop CS5 when I bought it last year and went Eeeh Gads! Blew me away, so I promptly closed it back up again. Kudos to you for being a master with it.

    • Thanks for dropping by and for the complement, but I still use an old PS-V5 which is more than sufficient for my needs.
Yes, I’ve tried CS5, very intimidating, so I steer clear of it. I guess it’s a great program for top-line professionals who use it 24/7, but not for my level of use.

      Cheers

  2. I love that your about me includes beer taster and volunteer food reviewer I’d love those jobs.

  3. I enjoyed your editorial/political cartoons, a good deal of which could probably apply to United States politics as well as those of Australia.

    • Thank you very much.
Yes, I guess it would simply be a matter of changing a few names and they could be passed off as US cartoons.
But you already have some very good cartoonists there, and I’d find it very hard to compete with their talent.

      …..and thanks for dropping by.

  4. I’m so impressed how you changed your life and de-stressed. So important. Sounds like you know where priorities should be in life. Cheers!

  5. Thanks for stopping by Malcolm’s Corner and liking ‘Freedom Works’. Also, I love your cartoons.

Hi! Thank you for sparing some time and liking my drawing 🙂

  7. Hi Cartoonmick,
Thanks for stopping by and liking our blog post. I really like your cartoons and illustrations. My friend Jeff (https://www.facebook.com/JeffBellCartoons) is also a really talented cartoonist. You guys could collaborate on Trans-Tasman work 🙂

    • Jeff’s work is awesome. I’m envious of good caricature artists, they seem to make it look so easy.
I tend to struggle til I get it right, but it’s fun.
      Cheers
      Mick

do you have a cartoon of the globalisation architects those who are the source of the GFC enjoying the spoils of this system the ensures the wealth of the public purse is tranfered to the private sector. This system then tell the taxpayers who once owned wealthy that paid for the services that their parents fought for that the AGE OF ENTITLEMENT IS OVER. Hewson once a leader of LNP concerned of the insatable demands that may be put on governments for service eg National Disability Services.
Do you have a cartoon that depicts the strengths and weakness of the conflicting economic schools of thought.
Do you have a cartoon that depicts the growing divide between the have and the havenots ensured by this globalisation system. Global exploitation. Good governance unfortunately has been compromised by the imbalance of power and the paupering of the public purse.

  13. Hi, Mick! I’m not as good an illustrator as you are, but still, thanks for dropping by my personal space here on WordPress: http://www.ericsonxtheworld.wordpress.com. More power!

  14. I love your cartoon so interesting keep it up
