POLITICAL SPIN – AN ILLUSION OF FEAR
Five months to Australia’s federal elections. Five months when Australians will be subjected to a ramped up barrage of political lies and deception in unbelievable proportions, and mainly based on fear. Fear of what will happen if the opponents get into power. Every word spoken by an opponent will be repainted and use against them. The backroom wordsmiths will burn the midnight oil creating demeaning and distasteful names to tag opponents, thus dragging Australian politics down to basic “gutter snipping”, to a disgusting level never before seen.
And, they actually expect us to “believe” everything they say. They’ll twist and spin facts, leaving out pertinent elements in an attempt to paint a damning picture of their political opponents and expect us to believe their lies. It’s all distortion, deceit and to hell with the facts.
But it doesn’t matter if they get caught out later by the facts, the damage will have been done. The illusion will have been created. “Damage done”.
The main problem is a lot of people DO believe them, and base their personal political opinion on this barrage of lies and deception. Their vote will not be their own; rather, it will be the vote created by the best illusionist and thus belong to that illusionist, not the voter. “Damage done”.
People believe the politicians, because they have created illusions of “fear”. Fears that just don’t exist.
Ah well, I guess that’s democracy. It sure beats the fear of a dictatorship.
….. oh, and if you’re a “rusted on” supporter, then ignore the above. You are “Damage done”.
