Politically polite (not).
Over the last couple of years, commentary on Australian politics has become bizarre and disgusting, with many parts of the media and hateful bloggers lashing out with their toxic barbs from the safety of their keyboard.
And although both sides indulge in this activity, they are not equal with their intensity. Right wing elements have been extremely diligent and effective and have out-gunned Gillard supporters.
Their efforts have rallied many, who follow the call and jump on the band-wagons. Their numbers grow, as they get louder and louder with the Internet giving them mob status. It has almost become fashionable. “Everybody is doing it, darling.”
Their aim is to make sure Julia Gillard is not voted in as Prime Minister at the next election, and they focus their noise on her.
The alternate Prime Minister (at the moment) is Tony Abbott, and this leads to an unusual aspect; the noise ratio. While “Gillard out” is at maximum volume, the “Abbott in” is at a much lower volume.
With a few exceptions, it’s almost as if they don’t really care who gets in, they just want Gillard out. Their blind rage is curried up with the fear being peddled by the various effective campaigns.
Both political sides have their faults, but neither of them deserves the personnel attacks they’ve been receiving.
And so the real disaster of this will be an election which may see a political party elected to office, not for its ability but, because a gullible public, has been consumed with the poison of these vindictive boisterous elements in our community.
Enough to drive one to drink !!
